Atlanta-based interior designers Julie Mongtomery and Michele Gratch merged their respective design firms in 2017 to form Montgomery Gratch Interiors, LLC. With full residential design services including decorating, renovations and new construction aligned with a vast library of resources and industry partners, Mongtomery Gratch Interiors blends casual elegance and sophistication with functionality, cohesion and efficiency to craft interiors with curated stories and distinctive design sensibilities.
Joining forces was a natural evolution for the designing duo. Michele and Julie each bring unique, complementary talents to the partnership with an easy chemistry that provides a collaborative and enjoyable design experience for their clients. The intersection of their expertise is the perfect blend of styles and strengths: naturally approachable and relatable, Michele and Julie relish finding the opportunity in a space, whether through adding architectural interest, recreating a space plan or defining a focal point. Paramount is the notion that a beautifully designed space should be functional, and that our interior environments play an integral role in living well. Both women count the unveiling of a client’s designed space as their ultimate professional joy.
Montgomery Gratch Interiors has been selected to design a room in the 2017 Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Serenbe Designer Showhouse as well as a vignette for Dwell with Dignity’s Thrift Studio.
Great design is in Michele’s blood. As an army brat she traveled extensively in her early years, opening her young eyes to the myriad colors, patterns, textures and manifestations of beauty in the world. Her love affair with fabric began with fashion, evolved into interior textiles while working in her mother’s design firm, and finally culminated in her own firm, which she founded in 2013 as MBG Interiors. Michele is known for her attention to detail in her designs, her love of color and mixing patterns, and her innate ability to quickly assess her client’s design aesthetic and turn that into something uniquely their own.
Julie’s journey to interior design began from frequent moves and a life-changing experience that taught her the very real impact interior spaces have on our well-being. For Julie, a sense of restoration came from creating a family home that was edited, fresh, and filled with things that sparked joy. She’s been sharing her passion with clients formally since 2011. Julie believes that great spaces include architectural elements. Whether it’s a complete interior refresh or a ground-up construction, she loves discovering the potential in a space and seeing the greater impact it can have. When not spending time with her husband and kids, some of Julie’s favorite free time activities include treasure hunting at flea markets and estate sales, re-styling her own home, and tackling quick fixer-uppers.
